Customs

Customs & compliance

What a customs warehouse actually does to your cash flow, and exactly what we file on your behalf.

What a customs warehouse is

A customs warehouse is a site authorised by the customs authority to store non-Union goods under customs supervision. The goods are physically inside the European Union, but in customs terms they have not been imported yet. Nothing becomes payable while they sit there.

The duty and import VAT are triggered only when goods are released into free circulation — in practice, when they leave our dock for a customer. Release can be partial: you can clear ten pallets and leave ninety in bond. If goods are shipped back out of the EU instead, EU duty is never paid on them at all.

Without a customs warehouse

  • Duty and import VAT paid the moment the container lands
  • Tax pre-funded on stock that has not sold yet
  • Re-exports mean reclaiming what you already paid
  • Cash tied up for the whole season

With Eurobond bonded storage

  • Duty and import VAT suspended while goods are in bond
  • Payment falls due order by order, as stock sells
  • Re-export outside the EU without EU duty
  • Cash stays in the business until revenue arrives

Procedures we operate

  • Bonded & customs warehousing

Hold stock in the EU with duty and import VAT suspended until it ships.

  • Customs representation & clearance

We file as your representative — direct or indirect — with declarations handled in-house.

  • Freight forwarding & EU distribution

Road distribution to all 27 EU markets on your carrier account or ours.

Direct representation

We file the declaration in your name and for your account. You remain the declarant and carry the customs liability. This route requires that you are established in the European Union.

Indirect representation

We file in our own name but for your account, and we become jointly liable with you for the customs debt. This is the route most non-EU sellers use, because it does not require an EU entity of your own.

What we need from you

Warehouse operators outsource customs. Brokers have no warehouse. We do both, which is the whole point of the company.

What we need from you

  • Power of Attorney authorising us to represent you
  • EORI number, or a request for us to help you obtain one
  • Commodity codes for every SKU (we can support classification)
  • Commercial invoice for each consignment
  • Packing list matching the physical shipment
  • Origin documents where you intend to claim preference

Our current status

Eurobond Logistics was incorporated in 2026. We publish our licence and certification status openly — ask us for documentation at any point.

Customs warehousing procedure

Your goods can sit in the EU with duty and import VAT suspended. You pay when the goods leave for a customer, not when they land.

Active

Direct & indirect representation

We can file in your name, or in our own name on your behalf if you have no EU establishment. Non-EU sellers do not need their own entity.

Active

Import & export declarations

Declarations are prepared and filed by our own team. One place to ask where a shipment is in the process.

Active

EUR.1 & certificates of origin

Where a trade agreement gives your goods a preferential rate, we prepare the paperwork that lets you actually claim it.

Active

Intrastat reporting

Statistical reporting on intra-EU movements is filed on time, so a reporting threshold never becomes a penalty.

Active

IOSS & import VAT handling

Low-value consignment flows and import VAT are handled correctly for distance selling into the EU.
